In 1985 a new pavilion was built and as the gas industry members reduced the number of local members increased. In 1997 the Wandgas Sports and Social Club was formed.
We are committed to fully supporting football and cricket at the ground; this was the basis for the original agreement with British Gas when we purchased the facility.
Linden Bridge School enjoys open access to the ground. We will allow any local group reasonable access. We will continue to foster our relationship with sports development officers at Epsom & Ewell Borough Council.
Community football for 5 and 6 year olds takes place every Saturday morning. The 3G is providing vital access to training facilities in periods of bad weather. Students who would normally not have the opportunity to play move from no football to competing against other school teams!
Wandgas has a determination to retain the site as an open field sports facility for the local community as our key objective and we have an open entry, low cost membership policy. Our committee members are elected annually. The club provides high-quality facilities to the local community. We want local footballers and cricketers of all ages to enjoy their sport and a wide range of family social activities. Introducing sport to our local young people includes liaison with local schools and other youth groups and sport boards.
Please call us during club hours (see below) or alternatively, come in and introduce yourself - you will be most welcome.
